twitwee clock
designer haroon baig has transformed the traditional cuckoo clock into a contemporary gadget that is activated by twitter. instead of telling the time this clock tells users when new tweets have arrived.
‘the twitwee clock is a modified cuckoo clock that wirelessly connects to the internet and constantly checks for new status updates or search results from the twitter api. new tweets are displayed on the built-in display in near-realtime accompanied by the charming yet obtrusive call of a mechanical cuckoo popping out of the clock.’ the clock itself was slightly modified with a wooden carving of twitter’s bird logo. the technology powering the clock includes a touchscreen display that is linked to the web through wifi, an arduino board and a custom software program that links to twitter and receives new tweets.
